8th Annual BIPH Symposium - Preparing for the Next Pandemic: Precision Health Approaches

All are invited to participate in the 8th Annual BIPH Symposium on Monday, March 14, 2022, in McCourtney Hall. This year's symposium will focus on "Preparing for the Next Pandemic: Precision Health Approaches."

Our keynote speaker this year, Dr. Christa-Marie Singleton, Notre Dame Class of ’87, is the Chief Medical Officer in CDC’s Office of the Associate Director for Policy and Strategy, Office of Health System Collaboration. Prior to joining OHSC, Dr. Singleton was the senior medical advisor in CDC’s Division of State and Local Readiness where she was the lead architect of CDC's Public Health Preparedness Capabilities: National Standards for State and Local Planning, the nation’s inaugural set of peer-reviewed and scientifically-principled public health preparedness capabilities. Dr. Singleton has been recognized by the Thomas Jefferson University for Excellence in Ambulatory Pediatrics, by the White House Fellowship Program as a 1997 national finalist, by the American Medical Association as an “Emerging Leader” and received the 2011 “Outstanding Scientific Award” Employee of the Year Award by the Atlanta Federal Executive Board.

  • Erin Eckert, Director of Infectious Diseases, RTI International
  • Matthew Webber, Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, University of Notre Dame
  • Marie Lynn Miranda, Director, Children’s Environmental Health Initiative; Professor of Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics, University of Notre Dame

Registration and refreshments will begin at 8:30 a.m. and talks begin at 9:15 a.m. All attendees are invited to lunch from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.

At 3:30 p.m. we will feature a poster session of graduate and undergraduate posters related to BIPH’s broad research themes.

The symposium will be held in the lower level of McCourtney (with lunch on the 1st floor). No pre-registration is required.
